my beliefs

i believe there is a distinct division of good and evil in the world, and that this world is ruled by evil. Good has been silenced by Evil's efforts to lead lives of wants and desires. Evil doesn't like being told how to live or act; and whether Good implements this or not, the fact that this is Good's philosophy creates hatred.
i believe God made each man unique, that he knows our futures and knows who is willing and able to come to him. this is not to say he controls our lives, because he gave us free will. maybe this seems contradictory to some: how could pre-destination and free will coexist? i'm merely saying that a person has a choice between two doors, and God knows where we'll end up.
i hold the Bible higher than the Constitution, and as such, the concept of "separation of church and state" does not affect me.
i believe that governments and systems of money exist because of sin's introduction into the world. the society i live in teaches me that all men are created equal, but are divided into classes as they go through life. i believe money--and the idea that goods and services need prices--to be meaningless.
i believe my involvement in politics would be to no avail, and so i am not registered to vote.
i believe public education is underrated. i believe a grading system exists to show others how much one knows. receiving a poor grade makes others assume one doesn't know much, and while this is often the case, it is sometimes not; maybe it's hard for one to express one's knowledge on a subject. likewise, receiving a good grade forms the assumption that one knows a lot; and while this is often true, it is not the case for cheaters, guessers, etc. but, if one gains tuition, regardless of grades received, the goal of public education is achieved.
i believe wonder is a greater thing than knowledge. here, "wonder" is synonymous to "ignorance," but is not as negative-sounding. when i was young, i remember wondering why the sky is blue, how rainbows are formed, and such interesting questions as those. now that i know the answers, i can't spend time thinking on the subjects. it was more fun to compare my thoughts with others' thoughts, than to know and bring an end to the "game." if you tell me something that you've learned, and i reply, "NO! It's this way because I say it is!" you know why.
i believe too many people act on vengeance. at college, i've met more than enough people who treat others poorly because they, themselves, are treated low. they let their mood affect how they converse with other people. furthermore, one often gets caught in the cycle of revenge, putting down or hurting another because that person did so to one. if one would take the initiative and discontinue the circuit--or, for that matter, never act in revenge--life would be that much simpler on both persons' parts.
i believe in love as God intended it: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." -I Corinthians 13:4-8a (NIV)
i believe that marriage is a God-inspired union between a man and a woman. i believe that if two homosexuals want to "wed" solely for the purpose of receiving equal rights as a married couple, the government should not deny them that privilege. i only take offense in their calling it "marriage."
i believe that divorce is a sin, that two people should know each other inside and out before they enter into the eternal bond of marriage. every marriage can have its problems, but if a couple cannot work through them, they should not have considered marriage.
i believe that if abortion should be legalized because it is a woman's choice, murder should be legalized on the same grounds.
i believe that all of the evil, chaos, and sin in the world should prompt us to choose God and live more easily, and i wonder why i have to say "should."
